World Scholar’s Cup Bucharest Round @ISB

This year, ISB once again  proudly hosted the World Scholar’s Cup Bucharest Round, welcoming more than 330 guests and participants from schools across București, Constanța, Ploiești, Málaga, and Istanbul. Over two exciting days, students came together to celebrate curiosity, teamwork, creativity, and academic excellence through one of the world’s most engaging international competitions.

The World Scholar’s Cup challenges students across a wide range of subjects including art, music, history, literature, science, and technology. Inspired by this year’s theme, “Are We There Yet?” students explored complex global ideas through collaborative writing, debating, and problem-solving activities.

ISB was represented by 40 talented scholars, who demonstrated exceptional determination and enthusiasm throughout the competition. Students competed in team debates, collaborative writing, and the Scholar’s Challenge, where they tackled thought-provoking questions requiring both critical thinking and creativity.

In addition to the academic events, ISB students also participated in the lively and entertaining Scholar’s Show, where they showcased courage, talent, and school spirit in front of a large audience. Highlights included Aise B, who amazed spectators by solving a Rubik’s Cube in under 90 seconds, and Ariadna R, whose piano performance captivated the audience.

One of the most memorable moments of the event was the Debate Showcase on the second day, where the top debaters of the Bucharest Round presented their arguments on stage in front of over 360 people. ISB student Alex C proudly represented the school as part of this elite debate panel, demonstrating confidence, eloquence, and outstanding public speaking skills.

ISB’s success continued throughout the awards ceremony. We are proud to announce that all ISB teams qualified for the upcoming Global Rounds, taking an exciting step closer to the prestigious Tournament of Champions at Yale University. Our scholars returned with three team trophies, recognizing excellence in debate, collaborative writing, and overall performance among 100 competing teams. In addition, ISB students earned over 100 gold and silver medals in individual categories, reflecting the incredible talent and dedication of our participants.

Hosting and participating in the World Scholar’s Cup was a remarkable experience for the entire ISB community. The event celebrated not only academic achievement, but also international friendship, teamwork, confidence, and the joy of learning together. Congratulations to all our scholars for representing ISB with such passion and excellence! A special thank you to our Hands of Hope volunteers, whose support, guidance, and enthusiasm throughout the two-day event helped create a welcoming and successful experience for all participants and guests
