Can I register my child(ren) in your school during the school year?
A: ISB accepts registrations throughout the year, however, certain classes may be at full capacity. Please contact the Admissions Office at admissions@isb.ro to check availability of places in the school.
How many students are on roll at ISB?
A: ISB has over 650 students at Pantelimon Campus (1R Sos Garii Catelu Str, Sector 3, Bucharest).
Who attends ISB?
A: Students from 40 countries attend ISB. Many of ISB’s students come from diplomatic families, the local community, and expat families posted overseas by international companies. The major nationalities are Romanian (making up 35% of our student body) and Turkish (15%), followed by Chinese, British, Hungarian, and Greek families.

Who is teaching at ISB?
The large majority of our teachers are native English speakers. They are supported by a number of English speaking international staff, who enhance the multicultural nature of our school. Please see the staff section for more information on our teachers.
What are the school hours?
School day starts at 8.30 and finishes at 15.00. Clubs run from 15.15-16.15pm
Does ISB offer extracurricular activities?
ECAs are an essential, vital and extensive part of education. The development of teamwork and group skills, the cultivation of hobbies and interests, the musical productions and plays, and participation in inter- school competitions, present many opportunities for students to discover and develop their talents.
Our intention is to provide each student with a chance to develop an area of interest, and to enhance their experience of school life overall. The main objective of Extra Curricular Activities is to develop leadership abilities, interpersonal relationships, a sense of responsibility, a generosity of spirit, personal discipline, and selfless cooperation for the greater good of the community.
ISB offers various extracurricular activities such as: violin, piano, karate, judo, basket, tennis, football, gymnastic, robotics, swimming, cooking, art, etc. Extracurricular activities take place every day after school, between 3.15-4.15pm. Most clubs are free of charge; however, a fee will be applicable if they are offered by an external teacher. More information on clubs you can find here.
Does the school provide bus service?
ISB provides bus service through an external contracted bus company. Please contact Admissions Office for further details.
Does ISB offer a lunch service?
At ISB we offer a nutritious healthy three course menu cooked in our own kitchen.
Is the school uniform mandatory?
The school has a school uniform, which the children are expected to wear at all times unless notified to the contrary. More information on uniform can be found here.
Does ISB organise any trips for the students?
Academic, cultural and recreational trips are an integral part of the educational experience of all students at ISB, from Early Years right through to Year 13.
From day excursions to local museums, farms, exhibitions and galleries, to longer journeys to other countries and continents – ISB trips are opportunities for students to venture beyond the classroom, to encounter first-hand different cultures, environments and peoples, and to enrich and embed their learning in tangible and rewarding ways.
What is the maximum number of students in a class?
The maximum number of students in a class is 20.
Do you provide ESL classes for the students who do not speak English?
Yes we provide ESL support free of charge for children registered in Year 1 and 2. Starting with Year 3 there is a 2000 Euro fee/year for the ESL program.
Does the school have a Parent Teacher Organisation?
There is a strong sense of community amongst our population of parents, staff and students, many of whom frequently give up their own time to support the school in numerous ways. There are countless opportunities for new families to get involved in ISB – some are on a very informal basis, whist others involve joining the Parent-Teacher Association and attending regular meetings or events.
The PTA is a link between the parents and teachers within the school with the common aim of wanting to create the best possible learning environment for the children, which stimulates, nurtures and encourages their development academically, socially and personally.
