The recent student led Eco Fair organised at the school brought together students, teachers, and partner organisations in a vibrant celebration of sustainability, creativity, and community action. Organised by the school’s Eco Committee, the event featured 17 interactive stands, offering hands-on activities designed to promote environmental awareness and responsible living.
From recycling challenges and eco-crafts to soil observation and educational games, the fair transformed learning into an engaging and meaningful experience. Students took the lead in designing activities that were both fun and impactful, showing how small actions can contribute to a greener future.
Sasha (Year 11) explained the inspiration behind their initiative at their stand: “We thought of reinventing board games using recyclable materials, because we are an eco school and we care deeply about the planet.”
The project was designed to involve as many students as possible across all age groups, encouraging collaboration and creativity. As Daria V. (Year 12) one of the organisers shared, “We wanted something more eco-friendly and useful… transforming activities into interactive and educational experiences.”

Beyond creativity, the Eco Fair carried a strong educational message. Students explored real-world environmental issues and learned the importance of recycling and sustainability.
“It is very important for people to understand the importance of recycling, because it can help us have a better future. Through practical activities, students can see the real impact on the environment and learn how to reuse materials,” added Alan G. (Year 12), one of the organisers.
Teachers played a key role in guiding and supporting students throughout the process. As Teodora Varzaru, Secondary School Art teacher proudly reflected on the students’ art project, “Artificial Garden”:”providing students with encouragement and resources allows them to develop creative ideas and “perhaps one day… save the planet.”
The event also had a charitable purpose, with funds raised directed towards environmental initiatives supported by Greenpeace, reinforcing the connection between awareness and real-world action.
Representatives from Greenpeace Romania highlighted the broader significance of such initiatives, noting that educating young people about environmental protection is essential not only for the present but “for future generations.”
The Eco Fair stands as a powerful example of student-led action, demonstrating how education, creativity, and collaboration can inspire meaningful change and build a more sustainable future.
“The Eco Fair was a highly rewarding and impactful event that brought together students, staff, and the wider school community in a shared commitment to sustainability. The level of student engagement, creativity, and ownership was particularly encouraging, as they confidently presented their ideas and initiatives. The event provided an excellent platform for raising awareness, promoting collaboration, and showcasing the meaningful work carried out through the Eco Schools programme. Overall, it was an inspiring experience that reflected the values and goals of our Eco initiatives.”, Ingrid Stanciu, Head of Primary School Enrichment
