ISB Eco Committee is excited to announce the launch of the Green Challenge, an initiative
aimed at promoting sustainability and responsible waste management within our school
community. We are encouraging students to participate in recycling old electronics, helping to
reduce e-waste and promoting a culture of environmental responsibility.
The Green Challenge event is organised in collaboration with Ateliere Fără Frontiere, an NGO
which collects electric & electronic waste (WEEE). They are the only organisation in Romania
authorised to refurbish WEEE and they donate refurbished computers to Romanian schools in
rural areas.
During the week of June 10th to 14th, designated boxes will be placed on each floor of the
school for students and teachers to drop off their old electronics for recycling. Every floor will
compete to collect the most recyclable electronics. Certificates will be awarded in recognition of
their efforts, as well as a collective prize for the floor with the most electronics.
On June 13th, our school will also have a track set up to collect large electronics such as old
washing machines, refrigerators or computers. If that is the case, please inform the school by
sending a message to one of the Eco coordinators, Dana Breitenhofer for primary school
(dana.breitenhofer@isb.ro) and Victoria Foster for secondary school ( victoria.foster@isb.ro ).
We kindly ask for your support in encouraging everyone to participate and raising awareness
about this initiative.
Let us work together to make the Green Challenge a success and encourage our students to be
more environmentally conscious.
Thank you for your continuous support!
Best regards,
Ingrid Stanciu, ISB ECO-Schools Program Coordinator
